Sonoma Diet

The Sonoma Diet is also referred to as the Mediterranean diet. This diet is inspired by the Mediterranean lifestyle and their enjoyment of eating flavorful, healthy foods. By following this diet, you will be eating a healthy, balanced diet that will help you lose weight.
The Sonoma Diet was created by Dr. Connie Guttersen, a registered dietician and nutrition instructor at the Culinary Institute of America. She has extensive knowledge on the health and nutrition facts of Mediterranean, Asian and Latin American foods. She wrote the New York Times bestselling book The Sonoma Diet: Trimmer Waist, Better Health in Just 10 Days!

Sonoma Diet Details
The Sonoma Diet has 3 waves, or phases.
Sonoma Diet Wave 1
- Wave 1 lasts 10 days
- This wave will help you kick your sugar, refined flour, and junk food habits
- Wave 1 is where you’ll usually see the fastest weight loss
- Wave 1 is also the hardest part of the diet
Sonoma Diet Wave 2
- You will stay on Wave 2 until you reach your weight loss goal
- The amount of weight lost will slow down some during this phase
Sonoma Diet Wave 3
- Wave 3 is the maintenance phase
- You will move to Wave 3 when you reach your target weight
- You will continue to follow the healthy eating habits you have learned, while being able to indulge in some occasional treats
Following the Sonoma (or Mediterranean) lifestyle, meals should be about celebration, not deprivation. This diet is not about avoiding foods, but enjoying foods. The secret, though, is eating and enjoyng the right foods in the right amounts.
The Sonoma diet encourages eating just whole, fresh, everyday foods that will naturally promote heart health, boost your energy and vitality and boost your overall health.
The foods that you will be eating regularly are the Sonoma Diet power foods. These foods are loaded with nutrients, will satisfy your hunger, improve your overall health, and help you lose weight. These foods will be found in abundance in your daily menus.

You will also be redesigning the meal plate. I think we can safely say, that we all probably use plates or bowls that are much bigger than they should be. With this diet, you will need to use specific size dishes. You will need to use a 7 inch plate or 2 cup bowl for breakfast and a 9 inch plate for lunch and dinner.
Another great detail to this plan that many people love, is the encouragement of enjoying a glass of wine with your meal.
