Medifast is a portion-controlled, low-calorie weight loss program.  The products are ordered online and delivered right to your door.  Medifast was created in 1980 by William Vitale, MD.  The products were first sold directly to doctors, who then prescribed them for patients.

The Medifast program has been studied and proven in a clinical research center at John Hopkins University.  It has been recommended by over 15,000 physicians and has helped over a million customers lose weight.

The Medifast plan requires NO counting calories, points or carbs.  You can lose about 2-5 lbs a week on average, or up to 20 lbs a month.

You will be eating 6 meals a day, which consist of 5 Medifast meals and 1 “lean and green” meal.  You will order your Medifast Diet food online and they will be delivered to your door.  There are over 60 available Medifast meals to choose from, such as pudding, oatmeal, shakes, soups, chili, scrambled eggs, and more.  All of the meals combine low fat protein, healthy fiber, and are fortified with vitamins and nutrients.  You can choose any 5 meals for your daily menu.

Your sixth meal of the day is the “lean & green” meal.  This should consist of a lean protein (chicken, beef, fish), salad, and/or veggies.

The 6 meals can be eaten in any order, but they must be eaten about every 2-3 hours.

After you reach your weight loss goal, you will follow the Transition and Maintenance phase.  You will slowly start increasing your calories, re-introducing foods that you had to avoid, and learn how to keep the weight off for good.
